Daily student parking

If you are an MIT student who commutes, you can request on-campus parking privileges online. Note that first-year students are not eligible for parking. If you live on campus and are eligible for parking, please see our campus resident page.

Please note that every parker is responsible for keeping account information, including vehicle description(s), up to date. You can log into your parking dashboard at any time to view and/or change your account details.

Who is eligible: All graduate and undergraduate MIT students (except first-years) who commute to the Cambridge campus and have an active enrollment status.

Cost of parking: A daily parking fee for each day you park at your designated location, up to an established annual cap. View current parking rates.

  • Payment can be made through your student account or via credit card auto-pay.
  • The annual cap is reset each July.

Number of vehicles: Student commuters can register up to three permanent vehicles (including motorcycles) on your parking account. However, please note that only one vehicle at a time may be parked on campus under each account.

First-time applicant: Apply for parking using the online application, also accessible via Atlas.

No need to renew: Once you establish a parking account, the account is maintained continuously until you cancel it. You can cancel parking at any time during the year through your online parking dashboard or by contacting the Parking & Transportation Office.

Carpools: Students and employees may form carpools for commuting purposes. Read more about carpools in our All parkers FAQ.

Parking location: All student commuters (including carpools) park in the Riverside area. Note that the MIT Health parking lot is for patient parking only.

For more information, please review the Student parking FAQ and the All parkers FAQ.
