Neuroscience Postdoc in brain/spinal cord electrical stimulation and recording in-vivo in mice/rats
To apply
We are developing extremely miniaturized micro-nano-devices that probe and electrically modulate our biological system especially the central nervous system. We are seeking postdocs who will conduct research to configure and implement these devices for brain/spinal cord stimulation and recording in healthy mice/rats as well as models of neurological diseases such as Neuropathic Pain, Alzheimer's Disease, Traumatic Brain Injury, spinal cord injury and Stroke etc. We are looking to fill up this position soon. So, apply ASAP.
Note: Add a separate section for "Skills" in your CV mentioning list of in vivo, in vitro and other scientific/technical skills.
Also,
Extensive expertise in electrophysiology and electrical stimulation of brain or spinal cord in vivo in rodents is a MUST. Please only apply if you have relevant expertise. Experience in pain or Alzheimer’s disease or neuroplasticity is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Perform research to characterize and validate the devices in cultured neurons or live slices
- Inject or implant the devices in mouse brain/spinal cord or peripheral nervous system (PNS)
- Characterize and validate the devices in-vivo in mice/rats using conventional electrodes for stimulation and recording
- Perform stimulation and/or recording of central nervous system (CNS)
- Demonstrate application in case of above mentioned diseases
- Characterize biological mechanism/pathway of effect of stimulation on these diseases
- Perform behavioral tests
- Study neuroplasticity
- Write grant proposals
Qualifications
Required:
- PhD in neuroscience, biology, bioengineering or relevant field
- Experience with Neuropathic Pain, Alzheimer's Disease, Traumatic Brain Injury, spinal Cord Injury or Stroke
- Experience with mouse surgery, stereotactic injections and implanting electrodes or fiber photometry
- Experience in electrical stimulation and/or recording from mice/rats’ brain/spinal cord
- Experience in validation of stimulation and/or recording
- Experience with testing animal behavior
- Experience in Patch clamping in cultured cells or live slices
Preferred:
- Experience with stem cells, 3D cultures and organoids
- Experience with tumor models
- Experience with isolation and preparation of primary cultured neurons
- Experience with recording or stimulation in PNS
