Research interests
My research aims to mine health data from human waste to better inform personal- and community-level health practices:
Personal Analytics of Ulcerative Colitis Patients
As part of the flagship project of the newly-founded Center for Microbiome Informatics and Therapeutics, we are setting up studies to discover low-cost non-invasive predictive biomarkers of relapse in ulcerative colitis patients.
Underworlds: Smart Sewers
In this collaborative project with Senseable City Lab, Underworlds aims to establish the methods to leverage sewage networks to do epidemiology and inform public health decisions.
Salt, Microbiome and Hypertension
We are investigating the relationship between high salt diet, microbiome and hypertension in a mouse model, in collaboration with clinical researchers from the Max-Delbruck Centre in Berlin.
